Western Sword Fern Overview
Polystichum munitum is an evergreen perennial fern in the Polypodiaceae family. It produces clumps of upright, pinnately divided foliage. Leaves are narrow and lance-shaped, the fronds have finely toothed edges. It originates from western North America, ranging naturally from Alaska to Mexico. This attractive foliage plant is commonly grown as both a garden and a houseplant. This plant has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. It has a bushy habit and is fully hardy, plant in a position of partial to full shade, in moist, well-draining soil for optimal growth.
