Overview

Luzula is a genus comprising around 140 species of evergreen perennial plants in the Juncaceae (rush) family. This genus has a cosmopolitan distribution across temperate, arctic and tropical zones worldwide. Commonly known as wood rush, members are clump-forming, slowly spreading, stoloniferous plants with typically grass-like leaves and sprays of tiny brown flowers held on arching stems. They are cultivated as ground cover in damp, shady locations.
