Coral tree Overview
Also termed coral tree or flame tree, this genus has around 129 deciduous or semi-evergreen perennials, shrubs and trees favoured for their pretty, pea-like, red flowers. These typically have 5 petals and are borne on bare, usually thorny stems. Originating from thickets and woodland in tropical climates, they make nice specimen plants for gardens in similar climates, requiring glass protection in more temperate conditions.
