Himalayacalamus Overview

A genus of clump-forming bamboos in the Poaceae family native to the foothills of the Himalayas in Bhutan, Tibet, India and Nepal with 8 accepted species. They have glossy colourful sometimes striped canes and blue-green leaves. They tend to be tall and slow-growing but are not fully hardy so best grown in a sheltered position with protection from strong sun and wind.
