Spodiopogon Overview
The genus Spodiopogon has about 16 grass species originating from Eurasia. Commonly cultivated species include the evergreen S. sibiricus, known as frost grass, Siberian graybeard and silverspike. The leaves of this variety have a bamboo-like quality which adds to their appeal as architectural specimens and these often turn purplish in the autumn. Flower spikes are tall and airy. They like full sun and well-drained soil but does not perform well in very hot dry regions.
