Silene Overview

Silene is a genus of around 700 species in the carnation or pink family and native to the Northern Hemisphere. They are mainly biennial or perennial herbaceous or evergreen flowering plants commonly known as champion. They are often grown in wildflower mixes and naturalistic planting schemes and there are also many cultivars that have been bred for variegated foliage and different flower colours.
