Great day out. We were lucky to pick a weekend with a food festival too. Lots to see and do including the 2 food areas, art fair, free samples, beautifully maintained flowers and gardens, a short Thomas the Tank Engine train ride (£2 per person), cycle museum, the old house, crazy mini golf, putting green, children's play area, adventure play area (for older children), the zoo (free), greenhouse, the old stables.
And if that was too much, you could take a leisurely stroll along the River Mersey or the Woodlands surrounding the park.
I think it is one of the best public parks I have ever been too with so much to see and do. The park is open until 8pm in the summer and there is a car park (£4 all day) or side street parking by the cemetery.
