About Sherborne Castle & Gardens

Designed by the legendary “Capability” Brown, the 42-acre castle gardens at Sherborne are a stunning example of his craft.
This Grade 1 listed garden was one of Capability Brown’s first commissions. Using Sherborne Old Castle as his backdrop, he designed the lake in 1753 and reshaped the Pleasure Gardens in 1776, creating the gently rolling landscape we see today. An RHS partner garden, there is something to see all year round – from the spring bulbs to the autumn colours reflected in the lake.
Please note, due to COVID restrictions, the gardens are open but the castle itself is closed. Contactless entry is available and they ask everyone to adhere to social distancing guidelines on site. More details on their COVID policy here:

Day ticket prices: Gardens only £9, Castle and Gardens £13.50, up to 4 children free (0-15) accompanied per paying adult.
Concessions: 2 for 1 offer for carers where by the helper is admitted free of charge.
Season ticket prices: £55.

The Castle is a 10 minute walk from Sherborne Station, and a local taxi firm can be found just outside the station. Visit South West Trains for time table and fare information.
