Sturdy shrub, compact, evergreen. The leaves are large, shiny, initially orange, then light green.
The habit is upright, but the branches keep certain flexibility and are a little arched, giving a harmonious shape less tight than the varieties of Prunus lusitanica.
In April-May, clusters of white-cream flowers appear, scented. They are followed by small red then black cherries.
