To create a more potent tonic, combine with that other garden apothecary favourite, chamomile! (Check with your doctor.) Flowers April-September. Height 30-40cm (12-16"); spread 50-60cm (20-24"). No garden should be without peppermint. Brush against it to release its refreshing scent and leave it to flower to attract a succession of bees and other pollinating insects but its benefits don't stop there. Peppermint tea has long been believed to ease indigestion and is a great way to finish any meal. Growing Information: Sow in a propagator on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at approx. 15-20 degrees. Cover seeds with 6mm compost (Germination up to 21 days). Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 9cm pots and grow on eventually planting outside into patio pots. Best to grow in moist soil in semi-shade.
