Our current stock is really chunky and just starting to push out lovely, big fenestrated leaves.
More commonly known as the Swiss Cheese Plant, this popular houseplant is pretty adaptable to most conditions but will really flourish when kept in a moist and humid environment - this will also encourage it to grow larger leaves.
Brighter light conditions encourage more fenestrations (holes in the leaves) to grow on the older leaves. You can use a damp cloth to wipe away any dust that settles on the large leaves to help the light reach them better.
The Monstera is actually a vining plant, so as it grows larger it will need a moss pole or trellis to help support its weight, you will notice aerial roots growing from its stem as it tries to latch on and grow higher.

Light: Bright indirect light will make the plant the happiest but also tolerant of a few hours of direct light.
Water: Keep the soil moist, water when the top of the soil dries out, however more tolerant of being under watered than over watered. For best results water from underneath with the use of a saucer to reduce the chance of root rot. Reduce watering during winter months.
Food: Use a high nitrogen fertiliser once a month during the growing season.
Humidity: Benefits most being in a high humidity environment, however is tolerant of a normal household humidity.
Quick Tip: Monstera aren't fans of being left in drafty locations so keep that in mind when picking the perfect spot for your new plant.

The plant prefers dry soil conditions such as sands and thin, rocky soils, where its roots are never waterlogged.
Full Shade - Less than three hours of sun per day.
Partial Shade - At least 4–6 hours of dappled sun.
Grows up to 6m in height with a 3m spread. Takes 5 years to reach maturity.
Fertile Loam – The soil type that we all love! It contains silt, sand and clay.
Sandy – Large particles that feel dry and gritty and can't hold water.
Clay – The smallest soil particles which retain water well and feels sticky when wet and smooth when dry.
This plant will not survive cold temperatures.
The unripe green fruits can irritate the throat and the latex of the leaves and vines can cause skin rashes, as they both contain potassium oxalate. Can cause stomach upset if eaten, it can also be a skin & eye irritant. The leaves are also poisonous, particularly to animals.
