Approved Suttons seeds retailer. Average Packet Content 250 seeds Burgundy mangetout with a savoury, chestnutty taste. Best eaten raw to keep their colour. Pretty bicoloured flowers and flat purple pods that are best picked young and eaten raw, steamed or stir-fried. Good resistance to powdery mildew and good tolerance to downy mildew. Harvest May-September. Growing Information Sow thinly direct into soil prepared by digging and raking at a depth of 50mm (2”) in flat drills 15cm (6”) wide in two rows with seed approximately 5cm (2”) apart. Germination 7-10 days. Allow 90cm (36”) between further rows. Support plants with twiggy sticks or pea netting. Grows best in a sunny position in well cultivated soil containing plenty of well rotted manure or compost. Plants are heavy cropping if picked regularly. Pick small before peas bulge through the pods. Water well during dry weather to aid flower setting and pea formation. Sowing to Cropping: 12-16 weeks.
