Being deep red in colour and smooth skinned, this beetroot is ideal. Being a winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, the beetroot boltardy will certainly be a favourite in no time at all. Recommended for early sowing. Suitable for organic growing. Recommended for freezing. Twist off foliage when picking, as cutting will make stems bleed sap.HEALTH BENEFITS: Roots rich in potassium and folate plus some vitamin C, and known to improve the immune system. CULINARY TIPS: Tops of young roots can be used as spinach. Looking After Your Beetroot - Boltardy For early crops sow Beetroot - Boltardy in March-early April. For use in summer and autumn make successional sowings from late April to July. Store roots in dry sand, soil, or peat for winter use. (12-16 weeks maturity.) Growing Information: Sow beetroot seeds in mid-spring. Sow autumn crops in mid to late summer. Thin seedlings to roughly 10cm apart to grow large roots.
